Senior Engineering Manager

What do you do in your job?
I help develop new products and oversee current product enhancements. This involves new product planning and project management responsibilities. I have a staff of intelligent and creative engineers and designers who make my job very rewarding and exciting.

How would you describe life at The Toro Company?
I would say our life and culture at Toro has a small, family-like atmosphere with the financial means and capabilities of a large company. We strive to offer our customers the most creative and innovative products and solutions, and the best experience and service when using our products. We’re always changing, improving and growing, which provides development opportunities for all our employees.

How is it different from your experiences at other companies?
Toro is a fast growing, mid-sized company. I’ve worked at both smaller and larger companies. Typically, smaller ones don’t have the financial base to provide the capabilities, facilities, resources or internal expertise.  In much larger companies, you can become just another employee and rarely have the opportunity to make a significant difference or be recognized for your achievements.  A growing, mid-sized company like Toro offers the best mix I’ve experienced.

What makes your career fulfilling?
I really enjoy the products. As an engineer designing and developing these products, I’m able to easily operate and use them.  This makes the design experience much more enjoyable, ideas easier to conceptualize, and innovation easier to incorporate in the designs.  I also enjoy the creative atmosphere, the challenge in resolving problems, and the recognition and rewards we receive for our successes.
