Toro
invests in the future of its communities and its industry through
a variety of scholarship funds and programs.
Dependent children of all active, full-time Toro employees who meet
eligibility criteria may apply for one of two scholarship programs
administered by Scholarship Management Services, a division of Citizens'
Scholarship Foundation of America, Inc. Recipients are selected on
the basis of academic record, potential to succeed, leadership and
participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience,
education and career goals, and an outside appraisal.
- The Toro Employee Scholarship Program, funded by The Toro
Company, provides approximately $80,000 annually in amounts ranging
from $500 to $2000 (U.S.) for undergraduate study. Through this program,
Toro has provided more than $1 million in scholarship awards.
- The Kendrick B. Melrose Family Foundation Scholarship, funded
by a $1 million endowment gift from Toro's Executive Chairman, provides
approximately $25,000 annually.
Toro invests in the future of its industry by financially supporting
scholarship programs such as:
- Toro Scholars Program, which builds professionalism and leadership
for young people in the outdoor landscape industry
- Watson scholarships, named after Toro's first agronomist, Dr.
James R. Watson, for students in the sports turf industry. This
program is administered through the Golf Course Superintendents
Association of America.
We also work closely with major universities to expand and enhance
research programs in the fields of soil science, agronomics, ecology,
and other turf-related subjects. |
